Color

Lively garnet with ruby highlights, tending to shades of orange as it ages

Notes

full-bodied and robust, fresh plums on the palate, nicely balanced by food-friendly acidity and soft tannins.

Taste

Rich and ripe dark cherry fruit, along with attractive spicy, smoky notes.

Food Pairing

The high tannin content in Montepulciano means that it is best when paired with rich and fatty foods. Montepulciano goes extremely well with meaty pizzas and fatty beef burgers. Other meats that fare well with this wine include roast pork, beef brisket, and shepherds pie.
