Amarone della Valpolicella

An extremely important wine in Italian viticulture, Amarone is an exclusive and unique symbol of the Valpolicella wine region. This wine has the potential to age for more than 20 years.

  • Production Area: Veneto, Valpolicella, Vigolo hill.
  • Grapes: Corvina, Rondinella, Corvinone, Negrara, Oseleta.
  • Denomination: amarone della Valpolicella D.O.C.G.
  • Vinification: the harvest is in the month of September, made by hand depending on the weather and the selection.The bunches of grapes naturally dry for 4 months in the open air drying facility where they lose 40-45% of their original weight.
  • Fermentation: in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts for  more than 60 days; and 3 times a day the marc is gently broken up in order to extract all the flavor and color.
  • Aging: in french oak barriques for 24 months and then 12 months in bottles before being released!
  • Color: Ruby red with garnet highlights.
  • Nose: cherries, plums, smoky with a touch of bittersweet chocolate.
  • Taste: Ripe cherries, plums, and berries, with hints of dark fruit, such as blackberries and blackcurrants.Subtle hints of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, complemented by floral notes of rose petals and lavender, earthy and leathery undertone, adding depth and complexity to the bouquet, oak and vanilla, adding a creamy and smooth texture.
  • Food pairing: Traditionally Amarone is enjoyed with game, roasted and grilled meats, mature cheeses and it’s excellent with any hearty dishes. Open one hour before consuming.
  • Alcohol Content: 15% by vol.
  • Serving temperature: 64-68° F.
