Carmignano

The first written documentation in which the name of  “Carmignano” wine appears dates back to 1396. Carmignano can be considered the progenitor of the so-called Super Tuscan wines (great Tuscan wines obtained by adding to the Sangiovese international vines such as Cabernet-Sauvignon or Merlot).

  • Production Area: Tuscany Carmignano.
  • Grapes: Sangiovese 80%, Cabernet Sauvignon 15%, Merlot 5%.
  • Denomination: Carmignano D.O.C.G.
  • Harvest: manual harvest takes place between the last week of September and the first of October. This Carmignano represents the best selection of our grapes.
  • Fermentation: after crushing destemming, the grapes are  fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for 10 to 25 days depending on the vintages, during which delestages are carried out, the duration and intensity depends on the conditions of the grapes and the characteristics of the vintage.
  • Aging: the aging lasts from 12 to 16 months and starts in French oak barrels and Tonneau in 10 Hl Slavonian oak barrels, resting in the bottle for at least 6 months.
  • Color: intense ruby ​​red with violet fireworks
  • Nose: fresh and persistent with hints of berries and musk
  • Taste: a wine with a good structure and an excellent acidity, which ensures a good aging. Balanced and with good tannins, it has a long and persistent finish.
  • Food Pairing: first courses based on red meats or truffles, scaloppine, stews and long-aged cheeses.
  • Alcohol Content: 14% vol.
